My kitchen backsplash was a mess, holes, peeling paint, that kind of thing. I like the look of the stainless steel backsplashes, but man are they expensive. I got the look by buying an $8 roll of roof flashing cutting it to size and putting it up with double sided tape.

rad idea!
Fantastic idea. I, too, have been wanting a SS backsplash (as well as for the surround where my range is); however, haven't been able to source out what type of contractor would do that service (perhaps restaurant suppliers?). The flashing is a great idea. How well does it clean? Does it pit/corrode? Does it need special care? How easy was it to cut to size (around light switch/electrick outlets)?

I would also like to hear more details about this project! What did you cut the flashing with, what width flashing did you buy, how well does it hold up?
